ACC/AHA/ESC Guidelines for Management of Patients with Atrial
Fibrillation
AFib is increasing in prevalence as the population ages. Accordingly, the American
College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the European
Society of Cardiology (ESC) created a committee of experts to establish guidelines
for management of this arrhythmia. These Guidelines were last updated in 2006.

Atrial Fibrillation is listed among the top 25 priorities (First Quartile) for CER and the report states
that CER for AFib is needed to “Compare the effectiveness of treatment strategies
for atrial fibrillation including surgery, catheter ablation, and pharmacologic
treatment.”
